Paul Daly from 34 Maiden Lane, New Ross is charged with having no insurance, no driving licence and no road tax on September 9, 2007. He pleaded guilty to all of the charges and the Court heard that the car the defendant was driving was the property of his mother's and he acquired the car from her at the end of July or August 2007 and it was not insured. The Court heard that the defendant hasn't held a driving licence and the car was disposed of by his mother in February this year and he hasn't driven a vehicle of any description since then. In mitigation, defending solicitor, Gerry Flynn, told the Court that Paul Daly's father had died tragically in October 2007 and his partner had given birth to a baby in the last month. Judge William Harnett disqualified the defendant from driving for one year for driving without insurance, took the other two charges into consideration and adjourned the case until July 15 for a Community Service report and a recommendation was made for 100 hours of community service.(newrossstandard.ie) |
